EARSeL Education Activities
The Special Interest Group on Education and Training oversees this important aspect of EARSeL's activities.
It aims to coordinate and stimulate initiatives by means of workshops and meetings and to work towards the European recognition of European remote sensing qualifications at all levels.
SEOS - Science Education through Earth Observation for High Schools was a project conducted within the framework
of the SIG Education and Training, funded by the European Commission in the 6th Framework Programme. It is an initiative for using remote sensing in science education curricula in high schools.
SEOS covers many disciplines such as physics, biology, geography, mathematics and engineering, emphasising the interdisciplinary character of remote sensing.
17 tutorials are available in various languages as part of the SEOS Learning Management System.

LINKS TO EUROPEAN INITIATIVES
-
EUFAR - European Fleet for Airborne Research : EUFAR is a FP6 Integrated Infrastructure Initiative aiming at integrating the activities of the European fleet of instrument aircraft in the field of environmental research in the atmospheric, marine, terrestrial and earth sciences.
EUFAR offers two options for training and access to aircraft:
- Lead your own experiment:
Free flight access to the instrumented aircraft of the EUFAR fleet.
- Scientific and engineering support Integration of your instruments Planning of and participation in field campaigns
- Data analysis
- Join an experiment:
Join researchers in an existing field campaign
- Benefit of training by the host research group (on instruments, organisation of the campaign, data analysis, etc...)
- Actively participate to research flights and data analysis.
